Solarzone® slurry is a dispersion of Photochromic microcapsules in anaqueous medium. SolarZone® slurry is designed for use in aqueous based inks(gravure, flexo and screen), paints and coatings systems although their use isnot limited to these applications. For non aqueous based systems and plasticapplications, we recommend using SolarZone® free flowing powder.
Solarzone® slurries are available in various colours (blue, yellow,purple, red, Orange and other colours upon request and against minimal volumeorder). SolarZone® slurries becomes intensely colored after only 15 seconds ofdirect sun light exposure and return to clear after approximately 5 minutes outof any source of UV light. The different colours fade to clear at differentrates.
Orange and yellow are the slowest to return back to clear. Yellow evenrequires visible light to return back to clear. If an exposed print or coat isput in a dark area, the yellow will not fade until it is left in normal room light (visible light) for a few minutes. The color change is“reversible”. When measured in the same conditions with varying temperatures,the colour intensity generated by SolarZone photochromic slurries is reduced athigh temperatures (50 C) when compared to lower temperatures (less than 25 C).
When converted into an ink, coating or paint, theSolarZone® slurry is colourless in the absence of UV light and changes to itscoloured state upon UV irradiation.
